“God’s grace is in The Promise, our faith is in The Promise.” - Thomas Fitzhugh Sheets

The self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnet will display the religion and spirituality book “on that Day”: A Trilogy by Thomas Fitzhugh Sheets at the San Diego Union-Tribune Festival of Books. The book event will take place on August 19, 2023, at the University of San Diego, 5998 Alcala Park, San Diego, CA.

In this thought-provoking book, Thomas Fitzhugh Sheets dares to question the modern theology of John Calvin, drawing parallels to the revolutionary impact made by John Wesley in the mid-1700s. Through meticulous research and heartfelt exploration, Sheets delves into the unwavering faith of early followers of Jesus and their steadfast belief in His promise to return as The Righteous Judge.

A key passage from Jesus himself serves as a poignant reminder of this promise: “Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear HIS voice and come out—those who have done good will rise to live, and those who have done evil will rise to be condemned.”

Drawing inspiration from the book of Hebrews, Sheets beautifully articulates the essence of faith held by early Christians, perfectly described in Hebrews 11:

“Now faith is being sure of what is hoped for and certain of what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for…These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised. God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect.” From Abraham until today, all are perfected in faith in The Promise of The Righteous Judge “on that Day” and of His return. “…but God in his grace gave it (The Covenant) to Abraham through a promise,” Gal. 3:18.

The book has already garnered considerable praise, including a 4-star review from The US Book Review, which commends Sheets’ passion for sharing his faith and understanding with readers, profoundly transforming their lives through anticipation of salvation.

David Keenan of the San Francisco Book Review describes “on that Day” as a mesmerizing book, exploring Sheets’ controversial and unusual theses that offer a profound sociological examination of a politically conservative Southern cattle rancher’s spiritual, cultural, and political beliefs.

Jo Niederhoff of the Portland Book Review also gives this book 4 stars and remarks on its narrow point of contention regarding the sufficiency of belief for salvation, highlighting Sheets’ exceptional writing and the intriguing nature of “on that Day.

Author’s Biography

Thomas Fitzhugh Sheets is a seventy-six-year-old semi-retired businessman who, while never attending college, has had a reasonably successful career. He is now living at Providence Farm in Bedford County, Virginia, and presently has a beef cattle operation, raising calves for the feeder market.

During discussions with a friend, a retired pastor, and a marine chaplain who has decided that he is “done with the church,” Tom was challenged to write a book. His friend understood his ongoing frustration with both the message and direction of the established church and felt that many others shared this frustration.

Tom, who has a heart for the lost within the church, believes that the church has been hijacked by the instant-gratification crowd. Thus, he felt that he was challenged to address this issue, and as a result of this challenge, The Road to Restoration, The Death of the Promise, and the Resurrection of The Promised were developed.
