Meticulously curated to respond to the astute tastes of the established and ever-growing Chinese collector base, the sale series, spanning across Shanghai and Hong Kong, will present a diverse, high-quality and creatively varied line-up of art and luxury offerings.

The live sales will kick off on 23 September, with the 10th Shanghai Auction Anniversary: Luxury Evening Sale, featuring a selection of magnificent jewels from renowned maisons such as Van Cleef & Arpels, Harry Winston and Cartier, as well as a curated selection of limited edition Hermès handbags. Bridging East and West, the dynamically curated 10th Shanghai Auction Anniversary: 20th/21st Century Art Evening Sale will follow, highlighting masterpieces by Chinese modern art masters Wu Dayu, Zao Wou-Ki, Chu Teh-Chun, Ju Ming and the iconic and fresh-to-the-market work Tête d’homme by Pablo Picasso. Alongside the two live sales, the 10th Shanghai Auction Anniversary: Kweichow Moutai Online will present an extensive array of fine and rare bottles, with bidding open from 15 to 26 September.

Setting a captivating prelude to the vibrant sale series, preview exhibitions of auction highlights will be unveiled in four cities – Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Beijing, and Shanghai – poised to enchant collectors and enthusiasts across the region. In addition, a specially curated 10th Anniversary themed exhibition in partnership with The Art Newspaper China will be on display at Christie’s Shanghai art space, complemented by a diverse programme of inspiring and educational events, including art forums, talks and specialist tours.

Celebration will extend to Christie’s Hong Kong, with the live 20th/21st Century Art Sale on 24 September headlining works by Zao Wou-Ki, Liu Ye, and Yayoi Kusama.

Francis Belin, President, Christie’s Asia Pacific, commented, “Mainland China has always been a pivotal and influential market for Christie’s. As we celebrate the 10th Shanghai Auction Anniversary, we are thrilled to present sales and events meticulously curated to reflect the evolving tastes of Chinese collectors over the past decade. This milestone is more than a celebration; it acknowledges the significant contributions this market has made to our business. Robust participation and an influx of new buyers from mainland China to Christie’s globally this year underlines the strong market interest and potential here. From continual investments in our permanent gallery spaces in Shanghai and Beijing, to the pioneering innovations across our Chinese digital channels, the last 10 years has underscored Christie’s unwavering commitment to the empowerment of Chinese collectors and the promotion of Chinese art – a commitment we intend to uphold and deepen in the coming decade and beyond.”

Rebecca Yang, Chairman, Christie’s China, added, “As the first international auction house licensed to independently hold auctions in mainland China in 2013, we take great pride in having contributed to the tremendous growth of its art ecosystem. With the continued support of the government, our esteemed clients, and the broader art community, we eagerly anticipate engaging seasoned and new collectors, as well as art lovers, with an exciting lineup of sales and events for our 10th Shanghai Auction Anniversary.”
