“What’s the difference between racecar driving and you suddenly trying to avoid a collision? Nothing.”

Last August 19, 2023, the San Diego Union-Tribune Festival of Books took place at the University of San Diego, Alcala Park, San Diego, CA. Many visitors could find a number of exhibited books, with several naturally dedicated to improving people’s daily lives.

When it came to driving instruction, longtime car expert Loren Elmer has a fairly exciting book that could improve the way people respond to danger on the road. Its title is “Stay Alive While Driving,” and its exhibit was arranged with the help of ReadersMagnet, a book marketing and self-publishing company.

Elmer is a well-known speaker on driving safety who has also taught at a number of prestigious race car driving schools, including the famous Skip Barber Racing School. He’s worked with Toyota, BMW, and Porsche. On the side, he’s a regular speaker at a number of auto museums around the country. Elmer’s extensive time behind the wheel has had him driving everything between small-bore formula cars to even roll-caged race cars.

In his book “Stay Alive While Driving,” he shares the surprising truth that a number of the quick-thinking techniques used by race car drivers are actually not different from ones that could save regular drivers too!

From understanding a car’s structure around them to the proper response to danger on the road, Elmer shows how the two types of driving can actually have something in common when it comes to avoiding the most perilous crashes and accidents.

Plenty of visitors to the San Diego Union-Tribune Festival of Books definitely had a chance to delve into these must-know techniques. Still, readers could purchase a copy of Loren Elmer’s “Stay Alive While Driving” on Amazon.
