Rex was born in Robbinsdale, Minnesota, a suburb of Minneapolis, and grew up there with his parents and older sister in a small neighborhood. With his many friends, he enjoyed riding bikes and playing sports including football, baseball, soccer, and hockey. His mother and father were both reared in a small town north of Minneapolis, and his father had a passion for motorcycles.

Rex has the same enthusiasm and has covered many kilometers while doing it. He married Teresa, his true love, when he was 21 years old. They have two children together, Nicholas and Chelsea, after 39 years of marriage. The family is blessed with six fantastic grandchildren, and both of the children have lovely wives.

He graduated with a B.A. a business degree from the University of Minnesota and an architectural technology certificate from the Dunwoody Industrial Institute in Minneapolis. While working in the construction industry, he keeps up his interest in good novels.
