“Great book.” – Debbie Re Abraham, Amazon Review
“This Old Dime” by Dale Wagner was showcased by self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnet at the 2023 Frankfurter Book Fair. The book trade fair was held at the Frankfurt Trade Fair grounds, Frankfurt am Main, Germany, last October 18-22, 2023.
ReadersMagnet displayed “This Old Dime” at the event, which is the largest trade fair for books and magazines. The company aims to share the works of independent and self-published authors with the world through exhibits at national and international book fairs, such as the Frankfurt Book Fair. Many fairgoers visited the ReadersMagnet’s exhibit to browse compelling titles, such as Dale Wagner’s “This Old Dime.”
The book uncovers the wonder in the life of a coin and all those that passed it from one hand to another. It gives a glimpse of how a coin traverses time and space, possibly passing through different significant events in history.
As an eleven-year-old boy in the 1970s, Dale developed an interest in collecting coins and keeping them. He grew up to be a shipyard worker. When he retired, he remembered the coins he used to collect and wondered how each of the coins could tell their story as they had been passed from different people. This wondering made him realize the importance of letting a younger generation realize the long-ago value of an old dime.
The book provides a glimpse of the story of an old dime on the sidewalk. So, where has it been? Why is it so worn?
