Dramatic Anti-Bullying Novel by Esteemed Author Richard Duggin Showcased at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2023
Much had happened during the course of the Frankfurt Book Fair 2023, with closed-door meetings and talks discussing the pressing issues of the day. The same, however, also went for the many book exhibits during the event. A great example was Richard Duggin’ “Boys In Exile,” a highly acclaimed novel that showcases the horrors of bullying that extend across generations.
“Duggin is a masterful storyteller. He sets a flawless stage, and readers will be swept into his dynamic renderings and find themselves lost in reflection throughout the book. He brings his story full-circle to a powerful ending that will weigh heavily with readers and consume them long after the book is finished." - BookLife Prize - 2022
For several days, citizens and tourists alike had the opportunity to visit the world’s largest book fair, Frankfurt Book Fair (Frankfurter Buchmesse). This year’s event certainly had many high points (as well as several controversial ones). But, of course, the same could always be said of the many exhibited books that talked about a variety of sensitive topics.
It is why the recent works of highly esteemed authors like Richard Duggin were right at home.
Duggin is the author of “Boys In Exile,” a novel that focuses on the subject of school bullying and the disturbing consequences it has that are felt even in one’s senior years. The book was on display during the Frankfurt Book Fair 2023 with the help of ReadersMagnet, a book marketing and self-publishing company.
A combination of a coming-of-age tale and an old man’s recollection, “Boys In Exile” tells the life of Elliott Street. Street is a grandfather who had just recently discovered his grandson is a victim of bullying. Yet as he tends to the boy’s wounds, he eventually begins sharing the wounds he himself carries from the same traumatic experience when he was the boy’s age.
“Boys In Exile” is just one of many well-received novels that Richard Duggin has published. He’s hailed as a masterful storyteller who has written fiction for over 60 years. He’s also taught creative fiction writing at the University of Nebraska and founded several writing programs. So while the Frankfurt Book Fair marks some of his books’ latest returns to live event displays, it certainly won’t be his last.
Richard Duggin’s “Boys in Exile” is available on Barnes & Noble and Amazon.
