Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group takes part in Heidi Klum’s iconic Halloween costume this year

Cirque du Soleil has partnered with the “Queen of Halloween”, Heidi Klum, to exclusively design her peacock costume for this year’s most anticipated Halloween party in New York. For over two decades, Heidi Klum has impressed the public with extravagant costumes for her annual and highly anticipated party. This year, Heidi wanted to push creative limits with a costume that resembles a peacock once acrobats assemble around her to create a living image on the red carpet.

Aside from her originality, Heidi’s commitment to craft is equally as impressive, as she never fails to go the extra mile for her costume. This year’s look was no exception as she surprised everyone by working with Cirque du Soleil and makeup artist Bill Corso to create her magical peacock. To make this happen, a total of 29 Cirque du Soleil resources from the costume department were involved in the making of the costume. Renowned costume designer Marie Chantale Vaillancourt, who created costumes for KA and Kooza, worked alongside Cirque du Soleil’s Creative Guide Michel Laprise and Marie-Helene Delage, lead creative director for this special project. Together with Bill Corso’s team in charge of creating the prosthetic head and neck pieces, Heidi’s ideas and Cirque’s creativity, the collaboration led to another iconic Halloween costume.

Heidi’s iconic peacock costume consists of more than 657 feet (200 meters) of sublimated fabric that was printed in-house at Cirque du Soleil’s International Headquarters in Montréal, Canada, and required close to 2000 hours of work to achieve the complexity of the costume, with 200 of those hours dedicated to creating the various textures, colors, and designs for fabric. The bodysuits were all made of velvet fabric, including peacock printed feathers and Swarovsky stones to add texture.

On the red carpet, a total of ten Cirque du Soleil acrobats participated in the costume reveal. More than 20 hours of rehearsals, including a visit by Heidi Klum to Cirque du Soleil’s international Headquarters in Montreal, were needed to bring the unprecedented creation to life.
