"This book is super easy to understand, and the author uses research to back up what she’s saying. She also gives you really helpful tips on how to make intermittent fasting a normal part of your daily life. It’s like getting advice from a friend who’s been there and done that." – Joyce Ekong

The Guadalajara International Book Fair, also known as the Feria Internacíonal del Libro de Guadalajara (FIL), is the largest international book fair in the Americas. The event allows visitors to discover the newest books on many favorite topics. Those who pursue a healthier lifestyle can find some exciting discoveries in Dr. Irene Osisioma’s new book “Intermittent Fasting for Women Over 50: Reset Your Metabolism, Lose Weight, Boost Your Energy, Improve Memory, and Enjoy a Healthy Life.”

The title says it all. Intermittent fasting continues to be very popular for weight loss and a healthy lifestyle. Much of today’s literature on the subject has reported the benefit of IF in transforming health while facilitating overall lifestyle change that can and will dramatically impact your life for the better. In particular, her book discusses everything about how to integrate IF into a healthy lifestyle.

Using her strong background in science education (spanning over 30 years in both Nigeria and the United States), Dr. Osisioma writes a friendly, conversational intro to IF tailored to the book’s target audience. She shares her experiences with various health issues and does not hesitate to point out common traps from sketchy marketing about weight loss.

Dr Osisioma’s book is more than just about intermittent fasting—it’s a holistic approach to living your best life. It is particularly beneficial for women who are moving away from younger lives into middle-aged and who may be facing menopause and the changes that accompany it.

Author Bio
Irene Osisioma, PhD., is a full professor of science education at California State University, Dominguez Hills. In a career spanning 39 years, she has taught at various educational levels nationally and internationally. Before immigrating to the United States, Dr. Osisioma spent 16 years teaching Biology at Nigeria’s secondary and postsecondary levels. In her 23-year career in the United States, she has worked in teacher education and taught high school science. Her research has focused chiefly on metacognitive strategies as tools to teach difficult science concepts. This has led her to publish several journal articles and share best practices at various conferences. A former Fulbright scholar, and a Carnegie African Diaspora fellow, Dr. Osisioma has also worked on several educational projects to reimagine education in the United States and Nigeria. She is the CEO of Learning Questa Educational Services, which promotes study-abroad programs for Nigerian youths.

Her struggles inspired Dr. Osisioma’s approach to education with science as a young student. She initially found science inaccessible. Then she connected science concepts to her life, and it came alive. This fueled her belief that culture and experiences impact learning. Meaningful education should allow people to see how it affects their own lives. She also believes that new ideas and best practices should be shared with everyone. This is the driving force behind her career and her reason for writing this book. Her husband’s twenty-one-year battle with cancer and her health struggles gave birth to the ideas described in this book. She found the ideas in this book helpful and wants to share them with as many people as possible. Dr. Osisioma splits her time between California and Nigeria. She enjoys spending time with her four children and two grandchildren, whom she loves very much.
