Loren Elmer’s Guide to Emergency Driving Like Pro-Racers Exhibited at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2023
The number of books on display at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2023 touched on a wide variety of topics, from the latest advances in the sciences to the newest guides for day-to-day living. Loren Elmer is an expert driving instructor whose book touches on the latter, but it comes with an interesting twist. His book “Stay Alive While Driving” shows the striking similarity between the life-saving emergency maneuvers of race car drivers and the best practices in daily driving.
“What’s the difference between racecar driving and you suddenly trying to avoid a collision? Nothing.”
Given the wide selection in its exhibits, many visitors to this year’s Frankfurt Book Fair (Frankfurter Buchmesse) were naturally curious about new books on their favorite subjects. These included not only books by experts on the latest advances in science and technology but also new guides on things like, cooking, gardening, self-care, and driving.
Though, on that last subject, Loren Elmer’s book “Stay Alive While Driving” shares a surprising fact. Furthermore, it’s based on his knowledge and experience teaching at the biggest driving schools all across the country.
The main premise of “Stay Alive While Driving” is that race cars and regular drivers have one very big thing in common: emergency maneuvers.
At first glance, it may actually sound plausible but rarely considered in real practice. Hence, he had written this book to get the word out and then tapped ReadersMagnet, a book marketing and self-publishing company, to get it displayed at events like the Frankfurt Book Fair.
Elmer’s big idea comes from decades of experience teaching in schools like the famed Skip Barber Racing School, as well as the driving schools for Toyota and BMW. He’s acknowledged that racers certainly exhibit some thrill-seeking tendencies that need tempering on regular roads, but he also wants people to never underestimate the skills they regularly use to avert fatal car accidents.
In fact, at some points, he goes even further to comment about the increasing danger on regular roads due to rising cases of drunk driving, texting while the on wheel, and other reckless behaviors on the part of everyday citizens.
Fortunately, many visitors to the Frankfurt Book Fair 2023 got a new perspective on driving technique via “Stay Alive While Driving”. For those who would want a copy of Loren Elmer’s book, they can order on Amazon.
