PIAGGIO GROUP KEY NEW MODELS AT EICMA 2023

Aprilia RS 457

Having presented the RS 660, which quickly became the best selling sports bike in Europe, Aprilia completes its sports family by entering a new segment that looks to both future generations and new markets, to meet the growing demand for easy but enjoyable bikes that are cutting-edge in both technology and style.

Aprilia RS 457 is born out of an entirely new project that stands out for its lightness, boasting the best weight/power ratio possible for a motorcycle that can be ridden with an A2 class license, ease of riding, and technological features. The RS 457 is designed to accompany motorcyclists as they progress on road and track.

The new Aprilia is powered by an ultra-modern and technological liquid-cooled parallel twin with dual camshaft and four valves per cylinder, capable of delivering 35 kW of power, the maximum possible for a bike that can be ridden with an A2 licence. The pure power figure is combined with the fact that the motorcycle weighs just 159 kg dry (175 kg with a full tank), for a simply unbeatable weight/power ratio. The aluminium frame with engine bearing function and the adjustable suspension form a bar-setting chassis architecture. In classic Aprilia tradition, the standard electronics package is comprehensive, with Ride by Wire accelerator, three Riding Modes, ABS and adjustable traction control that can be disabled. Available accessories include the electronic quick shift.

Moto Guzzi Stelvio

Stelvio is the on-off road bike from Moto Guzzi designed for adventurous travel. Built on an ultra-modern technical platform it is the only bike in its displacement class to have a cardan shaft drive and windscreen with electric height adjustment.

Stelvio is powered by a “compact block” engine, recently introduced on the V100 Mandello and further refined. A cutting-edge engine in terms of its design and construction, it is compact and lightweight, allowing for an agile, sports-oriented chassis architecture.

A 90° transverse V-twin with liquid cooling and double overhead camshaft and four valves per cylinder. The six-speed gearbox has been revamped to make shifting even smoother and softer. This engine promises true sports performance, delivering maximum power of 115 hp at 8700 rpm and maximum torque of 105 Nm at 6750 rpm, 82% of which is already available at 3500 rpm, and with the limiter set at an impressive 9500 rpm.

The chassis architecture includes a high resistance steel tube frame combined with tubeless spoke wheels, respectively 19” at the front and 17” at the rear, as well as long-travel suspension, choices that make the ride comfortable over long range and fun during light off-roading and dynamic riding on asphalt. Stelvio is the first Moto Guzzi to feature the PFF Rider Assistance Solution. The innovative riding assistance platform is based on radar technology developed by Piaggio Fast Forward, the robotics subsidiary founded by the Piaggio Group and based in Boston, Massachusetts (USA). These devices play a fundamental active safety role, ensuring the Following Cruise Control feature (an advanced cruise control system that exploits the front radar to adjust speed based on that of the vehicle ahead), Forward Collision Warning (detects possible collisions with vehicles and objects located ahead), Blind Spot Information System (warns the rider of vehicles in the blind spot of the mirrors), and Lane Change Decision Aid System (identifies vehicles that are approaching from the side, creating a potentially dangerous situation).

The top of line electronics features are completed with the Ride by Wire accelerator and the six-axis platform that optimises the electronic controls for safety (such as Cornering ABS) and fun. There are five Riding Modes as, Touring, Rain, Road, Sport, and Off-Road which manage engine brake, ABS, traction control, and engine map intervention. In the Off-Road mode, both ABS and traction control can be disabled. A vast range of accessories is available to meet a rider’s specific needs.

New Moto Guzzi V85 range

The iconic enduro from Moto Guzzi is one of the category’s most original and appealing proposals of recent years. It is the only one to combine an authentic and characteristic style with the versatility of a modern on-off road bike dedicated to adventurous touring, reflecting a construction philosophy where minimalism, practicality, and lightness make for an unfiltered relationship between bike and rider. At EICMA 2023, Moto Guzzi presents the new V85, advanced on both a stylistic and technical level. In terms of style, it is further modernised and refined thanks to a total design revamp of the superstructures, windscreen (now manually adjustable), handlebar controls, now more intuitive and practical to use, and the adoption of a new 5" TFT instrument cluster. Metal is replaced by lighter and more refined aluminium for the headlight unit brackets and passenger grab handles. From a technical point of view, there are many improvements. The legendary air cooled, 90° transverse V-twin is now Euro 5+ compliant, while new variable timing boosts performance across the entire power delivery range. It now offers maximum power of 80 hp and maximum torque of 83 Nm, an important development highlighted by the redesigned cylinder heads.

Moto Guzzi V85 becomes a family in 2024, with three different interpretations to suit a range of mobility needs. V85 Strada is the most minimalist version, intended for daily use. It stands out for its alloy wheels (19” front and 17” rear for all three sizes) with street tyres, its low front mudguard, and its three Riding Modes (Road, Rain, and Sport) which manage the ABS, Traction Control, and engine maps. V85 TT represents the essence of the iconic Moto Guzzi bike dedicated to touring. It features tubeless spoked wheels with on-off road tyres and 4 Riding Modes (Road, Sport, Rain, and Off-Road) which optimise the electronic controls (including Cornering ABS), thanks to the presence of the six-axis inertial platform. Standard equipment also includes the engine guard and passenger grab handle, both in aluminium, as well as hand guards and adjustable hydraulic preload for the shock absorber spring. V85 TT Travel is the top of line version complete with sumptuous touring-specific equipment package that includes rigid cases, the Moto Guzzi MIA multimedia platform, heated hand grips and saddle, and a more protective windscreen. There are five Riding Modes as, in addition to Road, Sport, Rain, and Off-Road, there is also Custom (available as an optional accessory for the other two V85 versions) which allows the rider to customise the electronic controls based on their own riding needs. There is a vast range of accessories available for each of the V85 versions.

Vespa Primavera and Vespa Sprint S

The Vespa “small body” has always represented the youngest and most urban spirit of Vespa and has now been completely revamped. The two models, Vespa Primavera and Vespa Sprint S, offer different variations and engine sizes, even for the electric version.

The Piaggio Centro Stile has carried out intense work to improve the finishings, introducing new materials and working painstakingly on the details to enhance the unique features and different spirits of Vespa Primavera and Vespa Sprint S. The superstructures on the handlebar are brand new, as are the hand grips and electric controls, flaunting real attention to detail and functionality. The leg shield back plate is also new, elevating the sensation of perceived material and assembly quality. The new crest on the mudguard (only for Vespa Primavera) and the new design and finishings of the central steering cover make up the other style elements that have been revamped and updated.

Even the seat has been improved across the various versions, thanks to the use of new materials that ensure a superior finish. The Tech version of Primavera also features the key-less start system and TFT instrumentation via which to manage the functions offered by the Vespa MIA multimedia platform.  The analogue/digital instrument panel on the other versions is also new, while all now flaunt a full LED lighting system.

In their sportiest S version, all three models benefit from an aesthetic update, with the captivating new Blu Zaffiro blue livery. Beverly is also available with a new Nero Cosmo black colour scheme.

Piaggio 1, the e-scooter for urban mobility by Piaggio, is now available in a more powerful version, to ensure increasingly effective and safe commuting while ensuring real ease of riding. The power unit that equips the scooter version of Piaggio 1 now offers peak power of 2.2 kW, almost twice that of the previous version, while the motorcycle version (Piaggio 1 Active) reaches a peak of 3 kW.
