Elena Jdanova’s Sweet Storybook for Soul-Searching Adults Seen Displayed at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2023
“This is an unusual book. I like the format - tales that are simple and childish from the first impression, but actually full of meaning, insight, and depth. The art is very complimentary to the writing, making the characters more alive and likable.” – Sabine Menzel
Many of the books exhibited during this year’s Frankfurt Book Fair included brave attempts by authors to share both fresh ideas as well as inspiring stories. Elena Jdanova strives to do both with “Tales of Hank,” a collection of stories accompanied by illustrations in the style of a children’s storybook but is actually meant for adults in search of inspiring truths about love.
Many visitors to the 2023 Frankfurt Book Fair, also known as Frankfurter Buchmesse, were there because it is one of the few places in the world where they can check out the newest literary novelty that’s been put to print. Whether it’s a story with twists to established tropes or an updated guide to personal living, there are plenty of books with surprises in store.
One could say the same for “Tales of Hank,” a book by Elena Jdanova. The author was able to have it displayed at the 2023 Frankfurt Book Fair with the help of ReadersMagnet, a book marketing and self-publishing firm.
At first glance, Jdanova’s “Tales of Hank” has all the appearances of a children’s book. However, the truth is that it’s actually a self-help book written in the form of fictional stories about a man named Hank.
Hank is a peculiar sort, both due to his six-fingers and a certain magical gift for making things beautiful. However, he also would rather use his gift to bring joy to others rather than himself. Each of the eleven stories features a different character that Hank encounters. These characters have been modeled after certain archetypes, and each encounter teaches them lessons about what it means to embrace love, all despite the most difficult circumstances.
With its innocent, colorful illustrations, all of which Elena Jdanova did herself, she hopes that “Tales of Hank” was an inspiring read for many Frankfurt Book Fair visitors. The book is available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
