More Than 11,200 Team Amex Colleagues Join Annual Giving Campaign
2023 marked the 51st year of American Express’ annual Give2Gether campaign where colleagues around the world rose to the challenge of backing their communities by supporting the causes that are important to them.
With over 11,000 colleagues participating, and their donations matched by American Express, we raised $8.8 million in total toward philanthropic organizations supporting a variety of causes, including health, education, the environment, and international humanitarian efforts, among others.
“Our annual Give2Gether campaign is a great embodiment of how American Express colleagues around the world live our Blue Box values and deliver on our commitment to backing our customers, colleagues and communities, said Jennifer Skyler, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at American Express. “I am proud of the generous contributions our team has made this year, which will make a meaningful impact on our communities globally. We will continue to provide opportunities for our colleagues to give back and come together to serve those in need.”
This year, American Express moved to a new giving platform that gives colleagues more choice and flexibility in how they can support their favorite nonprofit organizations, resulting in donations to more than 5,600 organizations. The new platform also allowed us to increase participation among colleagues outside the United States.
In addition to donations, nearly 2,000 members of Team Amex colleagues also participated in onsite volunteering events held at more than 25 locations globally.
Read on to learn more about why our colleagues choose to give and donate their time:
Lisa Edwards, Cross Platform Delivery Manager, Burgess Hill, U.K.: “Giving makes me feel good, and I learn something new every time I volunteer. I particularly like environmental causes where you get your hands dirty and projects that support ‘equal futures’ for young students, like the Albion Foundation.”
Dwayne Adams, Senior Business Architect, New York City: “I give to Boys & Girls Clubs of America because my local club where I grew up was a place where I found true community and friends I’m still close with to this day. Clubs are safe places where kids can have fun, play sports, learn, and meet new friends.”
Kerri-Ann Santaguida, VP & GM, Merchant Services, Toronto, Canada: “Give2Gether is extremely important to me because it’s an opportunity support the Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation and Alzheimer Society of Canada, causes that have greatly affected my family. Raising funds for these organizations will help accelerate breakthrough research and care for patients and caregivers affected by these devastating diseases.”
