Nissan Automobile Technical College custom vehicles to be shown at Tokyo Auto Salon 2024

YOKOHAMA, Japan – WEBWIRE

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. announces that customized vehicles created by students of the Nissan Automobile Technical College will be shown at Tokyo Auto Salon 2024.

Nissan Automobile Technical College, part of the Nissan Group, has five campuses around Japan. In addition to a common curriculum for attaining nationally recognized qualifications in automobile maintenance, the college also offers automotive engineering courses in motorsports and bodywork.

The three customized vehicles to be shown represent the culmination of students’ efforts at the Aichi and Kyoto campuses, where students can take bodywork courses.

Exhibit overview

Elgrand Glassier – Nissan Automobile Technical College Kyoto
Mechanic & Customize Course (by 4th year students; six-month build time)

Based on a concept of “bringing people together” this vehicle was created based on an image of six close family members in a vehicle together. The vehicle aims to enable all family members to enjoy camping together and to deepen their ties, creating a place where smiles and laughter never stop.

Ground clearance has been increased by four centimeters from the base model for driving on rough roads and a large tent has been installed on the roof to keep all family members safe and comfortable.

The face of the X-Trail has been incorporated to give an off-road feel, while the rear has a stylish finish with contemporary straight-line tail lamps that convey a student approach.

The unique body color has been configured by the students to evoke the light of early dawn. The base ethereal green that suggests dawn light is complemented with orange-hued lip spoilers, side steps and interiors, which depict the sun’s morning rays shining on the clouds.

Seto – Nissan Automobile Technical College Kyoto
Mechanic & Customize Course (by 4th year students; six-month build time)

Based on a concept of “a bridge between past and present,” students have created a uniquely cute “Pike Car”. For the user, the team imagined the daughter/sister of the family for the Elgrand Glassier enjoying a visit to a stylish café or heading out for a night on the town.

The Cube provides the base for the exterior, with the front face and tail lamps of a Bluebird. To connect the fender and hood of these two vehicles in a natural way, students used a combination of welding and putty modeling to make adjustments, resulting in a smooth and harmonized finish. LEDs were used for the headlights instead of halogen bulbs to give the car a contemporary feel. A roof box is installed, anticipating a spontaneous road trip with friends. The students devised a light navy color for the body, imagining friends enjoying nightlife when the blue of evening is fading into the jet black of night.

Adonis Skyline – Nissan Automobile Technical College Aichi
Mechanic & Car Body Master Course (by 3rd year students, 2.5-month build time)

The concept for this vehicle is “a vehicle like Adonis, who everyone will fall for.” The vehicle was created based on scenarios in which a young man with a good income and an active private life, the target demographic, would normally use such a car. The flowing lines of the base Skyline vehicle have been maintained, while the body has been widened by five centimeters to create an imposing form. In the creative process significant time and effort was spent aligning and correcting body lines to avoid distortion. In the interior, the dashboard panel surfaces were changed to give a more relaxed feel.

Adonis white, an original color with a fresh tone, was created by the students .
