Lindsay Priest’s Insightful Children’s Book About Secrecy and Child Safety was exhibited at the Guadalajara International Book Fair 2023
The Guadalajara International Book Fair is widely regarded as the Americas’ biggest book event of the year, exhibiting the work of thousands of newly published authors. Many of these writers have books sharing important information, some of these potentially life-saving. This includes even children’s books, such as the one by author Lindsay Priest. Her book “Does Blake Keep the Secret?” is a book that talks about secrecy and its surprising connection to unsafe situations for kids.
“This book is a fantastic example of the importance of clear and responsible communication about difficult topics but brought to the reader and their children in the most genuine of ways.” – Amanda Fierro
Last November, Mexico hosted the Guadalajara International Book Fair, also known as Feria Internacíonal del Libro de Guadalajara (FIL). It’s the Americas’ largest publishing convention, with thousands of the latest books across categories and genres. Many of these books also disseminate some of the latest information in their respective subjects, with some doing so in very surprising ways.
One example is the new children’s book by Lindsay Priest titled “Does Blake Keep the Secret?: A series of explaining unsafe situations for children and parents.” The book tells the story of a child named Blake, who is then presented in a number of scenarios that involve either secrets or surprises.
Why is this difference suddenly a big deal? As it turns out, one of these things may not be appropriate when it comes to adult interactions with children. Each of the situations shows how, while educating both children and their parents about the risks they may not be aware of.
Tough topics like these have become a specialty for Priest, who has a degree in early childhood education and has been working with children for over ten years. This includes not only her work as a preschool teacher but also firm children’s safety advocate. And on top of that, she herself has personally grown up in a less-than-safe environment.
Visitors to this year’s Guadalajara International Book Fair checked out Lindsay Priest’s “Does Blake Keep the Secret?: A series of explaining unsafe situations for children and parents” at the self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnet’s exhibit at booth #GG38 last November 25 to 29, 2023. The book fair occurred at the Expo Guadalajara, Av. Juárez No. 976, Colonia Centro, C.P. 44100, Guadalajara, Jalisco, México, and ran from November 25 to December 3, 2023. The book is available on Amazon.
