2024 Rose Parade® float wins President Award
“Symphony of You” float is recognized for most outstanding use and presentation of flowers.
Kaiser Permanente’s 2024 Rose Parade® float, “Symphony of You,” receives the President Award for most outstanding use and presentation of flowers.
This year’s float represented the many ways the people of Kaiser Permanente work together harmoniously to care for members. The float celebrated life’s milestones and how — like the coordinated, dynamic, and integrated notes of a song — Kaiser Permanente supports its members and the communities it serves.
At the center of the float, a Kaiser Permanente member stood with outstretched arms, animated as she danced along to the music, and surrounded by photos depicting life moments and the caregivers who have helped along the way. The float also featured Kaiser Permanente members, care providers and employees standing on a winding piano path that represented the unique notes of every member’s individual journey and how Kaiser Permanente synchronizes its care and services with the rhythm of life. The Los Angeles Philharmonic performed a special piece of music that conveyed the emotion of an individual’s journey, as diverse cultural groups from across Kaiser Permanente danced and walked alongside the float.
This year, Kaiser Permanente’s 18th annual float entry embodied the 2024 Rose Parade presented by Honda theme “Celebrating a World of Music” by bringing everyone together through music.
“Kaiser Permanente is honored to receive the President Award for our 2024 Rose Parade float, which exemplifies our commitment to providing personalized, high-quality health care throughout our members’ lives,” said Greg A. Adams, chair and chief executive officer, Kaiser Permanente. “We know it is a privilege to serve in health care and we work together with shared dedication and purpose to improve the lives and health of our members, patients and communities.”
The organization has a long history of award-winning floats, garnering recognition almost every year since it began participating. Kaiser Permanente has participated in the 135-year-old parade for 18 years.
In addition to 10 float riders, 10 people walked alongside the float during the parade, including members of Kaiser Permanente’s business resource groups, who help foster a culture of belonging, growth and empowerment in the workplace.
Designed and built by Fiesta Parade Floats, Kaiser Permanente’s 55-foot-long float base featured over 6,000 coral and hot pink roses and over 2,000 green roses. The vignettes are made of rice and onion seed, and the conductor was made using many spices to achieve her beautiful tones. Other flowers and materials used included an assortment of tulips, chrysanthemums, orchids, lilies, gerbera daisies, statice and straw flowers.
