Film4 celebrates 16 Academy Award® nominations including Best Picture, Best Director and Best International Feature Film
Nominated films: POOR THINGS and THE ZONE OF INTEREST
Channel 4’s feature film division, Film4, today celebrates 16 nominations ahead of the 96th Academy Awards® including Best Picture, Best Director and Best International Feature Film.
The two Film4-backed films nominated are Yorgos Lanthimos’ POOR THINGS and Jonathan Glazer’s THE ZONE OF INTEREST.
The collective 16 Academy Award® nominations today mark the best-ever haul for Film4, topping its 15 nominations in 2016 – further to last week’s record-breaking 30 British Academy Film Award nominations.
This news follows a run of recent accolades including ten Film4-backed films premiered at London Film Festival including Closing Night film THE KITCHEN, the Grand Prix (THE ZONE OF INTEREST) and Un Certain Regard (HOW TO HAVE SEX) at Cannes and the top prize at Venice, the Golden Lion (POOR THINGS). Film4 backed films also won 14 British Independent Film Awards in December including Best British Independent Film for ALL OF US STRANGERS, and two Golden Globes for POOR THINGS, Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy and Best Actress Emma Stone.
