Unlike conventional accounts of the pandemic, “The COVID Ghost Game” takes readers on a unique journey, humanizing the virus to make complex scientific concepts more approachable.
Dr. Cuero, along with co-author and illustrator Natalia Gutierrez, weaves a narrative that combines pedagogical expertise and firsthand insights into the molecular and epidemiological aspects of COVID-19. The book not only provides an accessible narrative but also incorporates the authors’ experiences mentoring young science enthusiasts and insights gathered from school surveys.
Through engaging storytelling, readers gain a more comprehensive understanding of the relationship between DNA, RNA, bacteria, viruses, and COVID-19. The authors emphasize the importance of this knowledge, extending beyond the pandemic to fields such as environmental science and medicine.
Beyond educating the general public, the authors envision “The COVID Ghost Game” as a source of inspiration for children, fostering a natural and comfortable perception of science. By making science relatable and enjoyable, the book aims to instill a passion for learning and discovery in the younger generation.
