Robert Ross Williams shares his accounts about his childhood in a place he calls “Woodlawn Giants.”
“If you’d enjoy a walk down memory lane on your childhood years in the ‘60s, I guarantee some of Mr. Williams’ stories will hit home for you as they did for me.” – Jeffrey Spencer, Amazon review
Author Robert Ross Williams will inspire childhood nostalgia with his book “Woodlawn Giants” when it goes on display at the 2024 Los Angeles Times Festival of Books. The literary festival will take place at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, on April 20-21, 2024.
The Los Angeles Times Festival of Books is a public festivity of written literature. It is annually held in April and hosted by the University of Southern California, featuring authors, publishers, and booksellers from around the globe.
“Woodlawn Giants” follows a group of boys in West Memphis, Arkansas, in the ‘60s to early ‘70s. The boys embark on adventures that include Florida Ball, snipe hunting, and attempting to jump the Ten-Mile Bayou. As they grow up, the only things that witness their adventures and shenanigans are the trees that make up the area they would call Woodland Giants.
The book permeates nostalgia that readers would love to feel when following the life of the author and his friends. It offers a glimpse of the time when children grow up outside and play with friends on several adventures. Moreover, the book also delves into a generational passing down of adventure stories that the younger ones will experience when they venture into the outside world. Readers can also take away that the very things they witnessed in their childhood are the things that will tell their stories as they go back to their childhood home and reminisce.
This book will be exhibited by self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnet at the 2024 Los Angeles Times Festival of Books. Visit the exhibit at booth #225 to check out the book’s display.
“Woodlawn Giants” by Robert Ross Williams is available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. Readers are encouraged to visit the author’s website at www.robertrosswilliamsbooks.com.
