ACCIONA and ACCIONA Energía have reaffirmed their leadership in sustainability by again featuring in the top 5 per cent of the S&P Global’s Sustainability Yearbook 2024. The Sustainability Yearbook is the rating agency’s ranking of companies with the best scores as per the S&P Global ESG Score standards.

In this edition, S&P Global evaluated more than 9,400 international companies from 62 sectors and selected for its Yearbook the 759 companies that stand out for the strength and consistency of their corporate sustainability strategies. The S&P Global ESG Score ranking is based on a comprehensive questionnaire that examines economic, environmental and social performance using companies’ public information and supporting documentation.

ACCIONA Energía obtained an overall score of 87 points and ACCIONA scored 85 points out of 100. These ratings place both companies among only six companies in the electrical utilities sector, and only nine Spanish firms overall, to make it into the top 5 per cent of the Yearbook. In total, the S&P Global ESG Score analyzed 199 companies in the electrical utilities sector.

The score of both companies in their overall environmental performance is noteworthy. ACCIONA Energía ranks first in its sector with a score of 96/100, while ACCIONA is in second place with a score of 93/100. These results highlight their performance in key aspects, such as operational eco-efficiency, which encompasses the reduction of polluting emissions, energy and water efficiency and waste management, among others.

Both companies continue to stand out in their respective sectors as leaders in climate strategy, power generation and market opportunities linked to the provision of sustainable solutions worldwide.
