Claudette McLennon’s Richly Detailed Novel of an Abuse Survivor’s Long Road to A Victorious Life Set to Exhibit at LATFOB 2024

Claudette H. McLennon spent over 30 years working in HRA but has long nurtured a passion for literature and storytelling. For the upcoming L.A. Times Festival of Books 2024, she is excited to showcase her work “Sins of the Parents,” a beautifully detailed novel of one woman’s escape from abuse in the earliest decades of the century and how she lived triumphantly even as age and cancer strikes her in the present. It’s an immersive read she hopes will engage many festival visitors.

“The amazing thing was she didn’t try to stop the memories or was overly emotional about them. What could she do at this point anyway?”

For over 30 years, Claudette H. McLennon worked in the HRA while harboring an intense passion for literature and poetry along with a dream to publish her own story. At some point, she saw some success with the publication of her own poetry book.

However, it was only in the last couple of years that she finally released a complete novel titled “Sins of the Parents.” It’s been an extraordinary achievement on her part, and she even landed the additional opportunity to showcase her book at various publishing fairs all around the world.

On that note, she will also be having the novel exhibited at the upcoming L.A. Times Festival of Books 2024, hoping that its richly detailed narrative will prove a delight among visitors.
“Sins of the Parents” follows the long life of Marlene Tulloch. Tulloch was the youngest of three daughters, and her mother died not long after she was born. She and her sisters would eventually become orphaned after their father perished in a freak accident.

Of course, her troubles had only just begun. Her two older sisters had somehow left for a better life. That meant she was all by herself with a very vindictive maternal grandmother who sees in her the cause of her daughter’s death.

For years, Marlene suffered abuse after abuse at her hands. Despite it all, though, the novel goes to great lengths describing the long, arduous journey of escaping that abusive childhood. For those visiting the L.A. Festival of Books 2024 in search of such triumphant, uplifting stories, McLennon’s book is one to watch out for.

“Sins of the Parents” by Claudette H. McLennon can be found on display at the self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnet’s exhibit at booth #225. The literary festival will be held on April 20-21, 2024, at the University of Southern California Campus, Los Angeles, USA. Get a copy, available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Those who’ve enjoyed McLennon’s work can look forward to her next novel “Let Go,” which will be published sometime later this year.
