CBC and Counterfeit Pictures today announced that beloved two-time Olympic medalist, figure skater Elvis Stojko, will guest star on the new original comedy series ONE MORE TIME (13x30), from award-winning stand-up comedian D.J. Demers (The Tonight Show, Conan) and showrunner Jessie Gabe (Workin’ Moms, Mr. D). Stojko will play himself in the seventh episode of the series, entitled “Lazer Blade.” airing Tuesday, February 20th on CBC and the free CBC Gem streaming service.
Stojko is one of Canada’s most decorated male figure skaters, having won back-to-back Olympic silver medals at Lillehammer 1994 and Nagano 1998 to go with his three world titles (1994, 1995, 1997) and seven national titles (1994, 1996-2000, 2002). Stojko was inducted to Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame in 2006 and the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame in 2011.
“Elvis Stojko is a Canadian icon and a huge part of my childhood (which is crazy because he doesn’t even look that much older than me. The man is aging like a fine wine,)” comments Demers. “Having him do a guest role on the show was such a treat. The cast and writers were so excited when he agreed to join. His episode is definitely one of my favourites of the season.”
A CBC original comedy series, ONE MORE TIME is a workplace comedy about DJ (played by Demers), the hard-of-hearing manager of a second-hand sporting goods store, and the team of "enthusiastic" employees he leads. DJ’s optimistic, community-oriented outlook on life is challenged at every turn, as he and his team struggle to keep the small independent shop alive.
Demers is joined on screen by celebrated actress and comedian Geri Hall (Astrid and Lilly Save the World, This Hour Has 22 Minutes) as assistant store manager Cynthia; Daniel Beirne (Ginny & Georgia, Workin’ Moms, Fargo) as undermotivated ‘lifer’ Wayne; Elise Bauman (Workin’ Moms, Carmilla) as employee-cum-Olympian Jen; newcomer Seran Sathiyaseelan as eager, young part-timer Keeran; and Dayton Sinkia (Letterkenny, The Strain) as the newest OMT sales associate, Chris.
Rounding out the cast in recurring roles are Nadine Bhabha (Letterkenny, This Hour Has 22 Minutes), Chris Robinson (The Amazing Gayl Pile, The Boys), Maddy Foley (The Boys, Step Sisters) and Marito Lopez (Gary and His Demons).
A CBC original series, ONE MORE TIME is produced by Counterfeit Pictures. Executive Producers are Dan Bennett, Shane Corkery and Anton Leo for Counterfeit Pictures, and D.J. Demers. Jessie Gabe serves as Executive Producer and Showrunner. Dane Clark and Melanie Orr are Co-Executive Producers, Martina Monro Co-Producer, and Colin Brunton Producer. Season one directors are Melanie Orr, Cory Bowles, Jessie Gabe, and Yael Staav. For CBC, Sally Catto is General Manager, Entertainment, Factual and Sports; Trish Williams is Executive Director, Scripted Content; Sandra Picheca is Director of Current Production, Comedy, CBC Scripted Content and Greig Dymond is Executive in Charge of Production.

About Elvis Stojko
Elvis Stojko is one of Canada’s most successful male figure skaters, having won back-to-back Olympic silver medals at Lillehammer 1994 and Nagano 1998 to go with his three world titles (1994, 1995, 1997) and seven national titles (1994, 1996-2000, 2002).
Known for his jumping prowess, Stojko put his name in the history books at the 1991 World Championships in Munich when he became the first figure skater to ever land a quadruple jump in combination in competition, performing a quad toe loop-double toe loop in his free skate. The next year, he made his Olympic debut at Albertville 1992 and won his first world championship medal in Oakland, sharing the podium with silver medallist teammate Kurt Browning. In 1993, he and Browning took over the top two steps of the world championship podium in Prague, with Stojko capturing the silver medal.
At the 1994 Canadian Championships, Stojko upset four-time world champion Browning to win his first national title. At the Olympic Winter Games in Lillehammer, Stojko sat in second place after the short program and ended up with the silver medal. That set him up to be one of the favourites for the world championships in Chiba, Japan a month later. He finished first in both the short program and free skate to claim his first world title. The accomplishments earned him the Lionel Conacher Award as Canadian male athlete of the year.
An ankle injury forced Stojko to withdraw from the 1995 Canadian Championships but given a bye to the world championships in Birmingham, England he successfully defended his world title, despite not being fully healed. After a fourth-place finish at the 1996 World Championships in Edmonton, Stojko made more history the following season. At the 1996-97 Champions Series Final (now known as the Grand Prix Final) in Hamilton, Ontario, he landed the first ever quadruple-triple combination in competition with his quad toe loop-triple toe loop. He went on to win his third world title in Lausanne, Switzerland, climbing to the top of the podium after being fourth in the short program.
That made Stojko a strong favourite heading into Nagano 1998, but he ended up competing through a groin injury that forced him to alter some parts of his program, including downgrading a planned quad toe loop. But despite aggravating the injury further during his free skate, he won his second straight Olympic silver medal. Stojko missed a medal at the 1999 World Championships but returned to the podium in 2000, capturing the silver medal in Nice, France. Following his fourth Olympic appearance at Salt Lake City 2002, he chose to turn professional.
Stojko was inducted to Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame in 2006 and the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame in 2011.
