Snide 30s-Era Comedy Novel by Stephen Auslender Set to Display at the 2024 London Book Fair Exhibit

Throughout his career, Stephen Lloyd Auslender was a man who had to walk the path of an industrial designer yet gradually found himself drawn to the world of art. This included a desire to express his surrealist vision as well as wanting to share his views on life through literature. One result of the latter is a book titled “The Streamlined Locomotive.” This snide, comedic take on early 20th-century steam barons is set to display at the 2024 London Book Fair.

“For generations, the Bezelbottoms have elevated the most ambitious, ruthless and determined characters in their clan to serve as their head… and then, there was Theo.”

The London Book Fair isn’t just there for the pleasure of readers but also for the many authors arranging to exhibit long-time passion projects. In the case of Stephen Lloyd Auslender, it’s to express his view of life as a “combination of comedy and tragedy” as shown in the book he’ll be exhibiting during the fair.

Its title is “The Streamlined Locomotive,” a book that combines dry humor with fun facts about industrial design and lots of history.

Its story follows the travails of Theo P. Bezelbottom, an unabashedly laid-back man born with the proverbial silver spoon into a most cutthroat clan of steam industry robber barons.

This clan has a peculiar tradition of naming its two oppositely aligned heads. On the one hand, the ruthless business head goes by the moniker Uncle Throckmorton, and the free-thinking, careless visionary goes by the name Uncle Aloysius.

As his luck would have it, Theo is caught between the two uncles and is soon expected to take the reins of the family business while also realizing a lofty vision that would cement their clan’s position among the corporate elite.

Otherwise, he’ll be sent to the draft office and likely count amongst the first American casualties of WWII.

Visitors to this year’s London Book Fair can find out how Theo’s adventure ends when “The Streamlined Locomotive” gets displayed at the self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnet’s exhibit at booth #6A90. The London Book Fair is slated for March 12-14, 2024, at the Olympia London, London, UK.
