“Charlotte’s War” is an epic novel that follows the story of an extraordinary American woman named Charlotte Fletcher, who experiences the horrors of three wars that threaten the men she loves during 1938-1972. Her firstborn son is being sent to Vietnam, and Charlotte is determined to save him from the dreadful impact of war, having witnessed the destructive consequences of youthful bravado in her brother during WWII and sending her decorated husband to sail into harm’s way a second time in the Korean conflict.

As Charlotte navigates through significant world events, her remarkable will and intelligence position her to offer critical insights to leaders negotiating peace in Vietnam. Having been raised in China by missionary parents, Charlotte completed her studies at Radcliffe, Harvard, and received a Berkeley Ph.D. in anthropology. Her unique expertise allows her to persuade the renowned decision-makers she encounters.

Over the years, Charlotte forges formidable connections with visionaries such as JFK, Henry Kissinger, and even Ho Chi Minh, culminating in a surprising and captivating convergence of personalities, power, and politics.

“Charlotte’s War” by J. Lawrence Graham is a heart-tugging book about loving relationships in the midst of harrowing national and global conflict. The book seamlessly weaves relevant themes such as resilience, survival, and love amidst war and chaos.
