Plenty of the exhibits at the L.A. Times Festival of Books 2024 include a great wealth of new educational material for children. However, for some authors, it is enough to teach kids about a single yet still very important issue. In the case of Laquinta Clack, it’s the reality of illnesses like sickle cell disease and how to help children understand their effects so they can better treat those who suffer from them.
