Steven Jordan Brooks turned his passion for music into a career. A classically trained musician, he transitioned to rock music in high school when he joined his first rock band. This continued through his college years at California State University Northridge where he earned his degree in Philosophy. After college, he continued working in rock bands in night clubs and other venues often times playing six nights a week, six sets a night. He moved to the business side of the entertainment business working mostly in management and production. He worked with many artist including Missing Persons, Kansas, Devo, Cat Stevens, Jeff Beck, Supertramp, and many others. Having worked in many areas of the entertainment and music business, he was able to draw from his own experiences, knowledge, as well as the stories of other musicians to write the book, showing the struggles, hardships, and difficulty of being successful in the music and entertainment industry.

He left the music business to pursue a career in education. He became an English and drama teacher. This still allowed him a creative outlet with music always as a sideline. His interests continue even to this day. He still plays and is currently in Desert Winds Symphonic Band, a group of about 100 musicians. He continues to attend concerts, theater events, Broadway shows and art museums at least once a month.

He was born and raised in the Los Angeles area and moved to Palm Springs when he retired which is where he now resides. He has always loved to travel and has been to many places around the world including Europe, Asia, the Middle East, The Baltic, South Pacific, and the Caribbean. His love for nature and the outdoors led him to many camping and hiking adventures. Teaching allowed him time off in the summer when he would take off on six weeks camping trips all over the western United States and Canada. He is an art lover and attends many art museums. He has a wide range of interest so frequently attends other museums or events.
