William G. McGowan Charitable Fund Partners With Society For Human Resources Management To Host Third Annual “Ethical Leader Of The Year Award“ At SHRM 2024

Chicago, Illinois, USA – WEBWIRE

The William G. McGowan Charitable Fund, a private foundation dedicated to furthering the compassionate philanthropy and the ethical leadership of William G. McGowan, proudly announces the third Ethical Leader of the Year Award, once again in partnership with SHRM (the Society for Human Resources Management), and with the Fortune-500 company CEO award-winner to be announced at the SHRM 2024 Annual Conference & Expo in Chicago, Illinois on Tuesday, June 25th.

Following the successful launch of the inaugural Ethical Leader of the Year Award in 2022, then presented in New Orleans, Louisiana to Charles Lowrey, Chairman and CEO at Prudential Financial, the McGowan Fund presented the accolade at SHRM 2023 Las Vegas for its second rendition, to Delta Air Lines Global CEO, Ed Bastian.

The significance of, and urgency behind, highlighting ethical leadership in business is clear and present - The 2024 Edelman Trust Barometer reveals that the adoption of rapid innovation may be exacerbating trust issues across all institutions, including consumer confidence and between employers and employees, leading to further societal instability and polarization. Ethical, transparent leadership in business is even more essential today.

Brian Peckrill, Executive Director of the William G. McGowan Charitable Fund, stated that, “We are seeing a downline trend in trust in business and the need to address this quiet crisis impacting talent retention, recruitment, and ultimately, the American economy. We are accordingly privileged to work with partners such as SHRM to hold up national examples of ethical leadership in the U.S. C-Suite; highlighting leaders who have persevered through unprecedented challenges to navigate bottom line growth and as importantly, empower their critical workforces as part of their commitment to ethical leadership.”

“We look forward to highlighting our 2024 Ethical Leader of the Year Award winner and the example they set within today’s marketplace with our great partner SHRM, an organization that represents human resources professionals, where ethical business cultures are born and restructured, in our hometown of Chicago.”

The SHRM Expo, hosted annually by SHRM (this year in its 76th rendition), is widely recognized as the world’s largest trade association of HR professionals and an unrivaled showcase of the modern-day principles of ethical leadership. This year, the Conference & Expo plans to delve in to topics such as ethical leadership in the workplace, HR strategy, HR technology, Artificial Intelligence (‘A.I’) and civility in the workplace, and much more, empowering its attendees to embrace change, drive innovation within their organization, and equip themselves with the tools to advance career success.

“The hallmark of an exceptional leader lies in their ability to cultivate an organizational ethos rooted in individual responsibility and steadfast dedication to empathetic leadership,” said Johnny C. Taylor, Jr., SHRM-SCP, SHRM president and chief executive officer. “I am delighted the 3rd annual Ethical Leader of the Year Award recognizes a CEO who exemplifies all those things —an individual who grasps the significance of ethical stewardship and exemplifies its essence in their workplace dynamics every day.”
