Corona Cero and Olympians celebrating golden moments in nature to help protect the ocean

WEBWIRE

The Corona brand is known for inspiring the world to reconnect with nature. Now, as part of its new platform celebrating golden moments of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, our iconic beer, together with Paris 2024 athletes, is highlighting the ocean’s crucial role in creating golden moments in our lives.

Starting in World Ocean Month, no-alcohol Corona Cero, the global beer sponsor of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, is launching a program to immerse people in Olympians’ golden moments in nature and inspire action to protect it.

“Corona reminds us to go outside and reconnect with nature, bringing a fresh perspective of relaxation and celebration to the Olympic Games,” said Clarissa Pantoja, Global Vice President, Corona. “Together with non-profit Mission Blue, and through the eyes of athletes Tatiana Weston-Webb and Martin Dolenc, we are sharing golden moments in the ocean, continuing our legacy of inspiring people to help protect and restore the blue heart of our planet.”

A brand born at the beach, Corona has a long history of protecting and restoring nature and working to eliminate plastic pollution in partnership with NGOs -- from the Corona Plastic Fishing Tournament to the Corona Sunsets World Tour, which earned Blue Verification and avoided more than 780,000 single-use plastic items in 2023. Through its partnership with international NGO, Oceanic Global, the brand opened Corona Island in Colombia and recently established a multi-year grant to fund clean-ups and intercept plastic in rivers worldwide.

Experiencing the ocean’s wonders

Through immersive content and digital activations, the new program calls on viewers to experience golden moments in the ocean through the eyes of Olympians -- surfer Tatiana Weston-Webb and kite surfer Martin Dolenc -- and to support ‘Hope Spots’, special marine areas critical to the health of the ocean.

“My first golden moment was when my dad put me on his back while kite surfing. It was a moment of revelation,” said Martin. “The natural world gives me perspective on life and what matters - to have the ocean go back to the way it was, the way it should be.”

As part of the partnership, Corona will also match donations made at Corona.com/MissionBlue. The investments will help continue the maintenance of current Hope Spots and create new ones.
