Pastor Christopher Powers’ Critique and Guide On Behaviors in American Churches Soon to Exhibit at the PRLF 2024

With the many books it is set out to display, the Printers Row Lit Fest is an excellent opportunity for readers of all various subjects to discover hundreds of experts giving their take on today’s hot-button issues. And when it comes to religious belief, this seems even more so. It is why Dr. Christopher Powers, a longtime pastor from Arkansas, has released a book, “Behave as a Church,” calling out the troubling trends he is seeing that are fragmenting faith communities across America.

“And let us not consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.” – Hebrews 10:24-25 NKJV

The Printers Row Lit Fest is a community-focused event that invites publishers and authors from all across America so that the people of Chicago can find incredible reads just as they walk along the streets. It is also an excellent opportunity for avid readers of various subjects to discover what dedicated thought leaders are currently publishing when it comes to today’s most pressing problems.

Incidentally, that also includes life in America’s churches. It is why Dr. Christopher Powers published his book Behave as a Church” and arranged to have it exhibited at this year’s Printers Row Lit Fest.

Dr. Powers has served as a pastor in NE Arkansas for 18 years and has been in the gospel ministry for 32 years. His father before him was also a pastor, and he was raised up in church to follow in his footsteps. He graduated from Anderson Theological Seminary in Camilla, Georgia, and holds a Doctor of Theology and a Master of Divinity.

In “Behave as a Church,” he notes that some of the most troubling things he has seen in his experience are not what was outside the church but in it. He has seen members in the highest levels of the hierarchy argue over the pettiest things and has seen meetings wasted over the most trivial matters (such as where to put a church clock).

Meanwhile, thousands, if not millions, of young souls are walking out church doors across America.

Hence, the purpose of “Behave as a Church” is to remind readers (particularly the so-called faithful) what it really means to behave. Furthermore, it is not just how to behave individually but how to ‘behave as a whole church.’

Visitors to the 2024 Printers Row Lit Fest can find Dr. Christopher Powers’ “Behave as a Church” showcased at the self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnet’s exhibit. The event’s already set for September 7-8, 2024, at Printers Row Park, 620 S Dearborn St (Ida B Wells & Polk), Chicago, Illinois. Copies are available on Barnes & Noble and Amazon.
