“The Headhunter’s Granddaughter” by Terry Iwanski Will Be Displayed at the 2024 Frankfurt Book Fair

“The Headhunter’s Granddaughter” is a memoir that follows Terry Iwanski’s wife, Pedo AK Rupa, in a recollection of seeking freedom from poverty and abuse. The book introduces Pedo as a baby sold by her poor parents to her uncle. Her uncle already planned for Pedo to work in his field. Pedo grew up naked while experiencing child labor until a woman took pity and gave her an old, white smock that she had worn for many years. When she found a chance to leave her village, Pedo took the one-way ticket to freedom, leading her into a new world with new challenges.

The author aims to tell an essential story of finding a way out of abuse through the recollections of his wife in her life as a village woman.

As he navigated the sex, hate, and violence of the time, he absorbed these internalized experiences, leading to his maturation and wisdom. Terry became a living embodiment of his past, a repository of memories with irresistible allure. By revisiting these memories, he invites others to join him in cherishing these vivid recollections.
