Pete Fleck’s Deep Diving Novel On Army Medics with PTSD Set for Exciting Book Signing at PRLF 2024

One of the biggest draws of the Printers Row Lit Fest is that it welcomes both major bestsellers right alongside numerous independent authors who are eager to showcase their passion projects.

These even include military veterans like Pete Fleck, who is scheduled for a book signing session for his novel titled “Angel Templar.”

Mirroring Fleck’s own experiences, the book follows the life of a former army medic grappling with both strange visions and PTSD.

“Pete Fleck scores again with another great story. His second book follows former Army medic Kyle Templar to a small town where he is working as a paramedic and trying to pull his life together. But tragedy strikes this small town and Kyle is put right back in a combat zone... The questions are hard. How do we cope with our human limitations? What if you can’t save everyone? What if my friends or children lose their lives? And how do we go on?” – Amazon review by Anthony W. May

For every celebrity author and bestseller at Chicago’s Printers Row Lit Fest (PRLF), there are also a dozen more books written by ordinary people who want to share their stories.

Some of these even include veterans like Pete Fleck, who don’t shy from using their military experience to color the themes of their passion projects.

Fleck is the author of “Angel Templar,” a book that he just finished publishing this year, and he has even scheduled a book signing session for the 2024 Printers Row Lit Fest.

The novel tells the story of Kyle “Angel” Templar, a former Army Ranger Medic who still can’t refuse the call to save people. Despite this, the story shows just how much his calling is simultaneously a struggle as he grapples with the reality of failure in the line of duty.

It’s a trauma he revisits both in his memories of his time in the military and then in the present day when he inadvertently fails to save lives after a catastrophic school shooting. Complicating matters further is the strange vision of an entity that never seems to leave him alone. Still, hope is not lost as he finds support from his friends, his therapist as well as a new woman in his life.

The themes of “Angel Templar” certainly mirror much of Fleck’s own experience. His career spanned not only 27 years serving the Brownsburg Police Department but also 24 years in the U.S. Army Reserves and National Guard. Still, he’s not afraid to flex his creative (and even comedic) chops in his book.

Those passing by this year’s Printers Row Lit Fest can have a chance to meet the man himself at the self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnet’s exhibit at spaces C and D on September 7, 2024, at 3:30–4:30 p.m. The PRLF will be held on September 7-8, 2024, at Printers Row Park, 620 S Dearborn St (Ida B Wells & Polk), Chicago, Illinois.

Pete Fleck’s “Angel Templar” is available on Amazon. For those who want to see other projects he has in store, they can visit his website at https://www.petefleckbooks.com/.
