“The true purpose of Karma is to teach virtue, and not impose a punishment that’s forever set in stone.”

Like many independent-minded writers, John Rutherford has always been passionate about his craft even as something bigger often preoccupied his time. In his case, it was traveling and living across different parts of the world.

In recent years, however, he feels that the timing is now right to finally publish something and share it with a wider reading audience. After working on a few children’s stories, he went on to officially release his first novel “Bella – Chronicles of a Karmic Dog.”

“Bella – Chronicles of a Karmic Dog” is a collection of stories that John Rutherford has synthesized over the years. It starts in the Mugla peninsula of Turkey, the novel tells the story of Bella, a pregnant dog from a long, storied line of Jack Russell terriers. Through a series of unfortunate events, Bella is kidnapped by unscrupulous villains who want to sell her prized puppies for a profit.

Still, in an exciting twist of fate, Bella manages to escape her captors and flee into a deep forest. It is here that readers will discover her gift for communicating with many other creatures and using it to secure both her safety and that of her pups.

In the same fashion as the famous “The tales of one thousand and one Arabian Nights”, Bella then goes on to start telling the stories of her lineage both to her suckling pups and other creatures of the forest. Each of these tales features one of her ancestors witnessing some of the most significant events in human history. They also explore the laws of karma, and the concept of causality, how it is more than what is typically understood by most people.

John Rutherford is very excited to have “Bella – Chronicles of a Karmic Dog” reach as many readers as possible. He has arranged to have the book exhibited at the 2024 Printers Row Lit Fest, which is the largest outdoor book showcase in the Midwest. The event will take place on September 7-8, 2024, at Printers Row Park, 620 S Dearborn St (Ida B Wells & Polk), Chicago, Illinois. The book will be displayed by the self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnet at booth spaces C and D.

The book is available on Amazon. Learn more about the author and his works at www.johnrutherfordbooks.com.
