Maximilian Günther Joins DS Penske alongside Jean-Éric Vergne!
After an excellent third place in Season 10, DS Automobiles and PENSKE AUTOSPORT announce the arrival of German driver Maximilian Günther in the DS PENSKE team.
The 27-year-old Günther has been among the key players in Formula E since 2018 and has already delivered plenty of good results in the all-electric championship. His record of achievement from Season 5 up to now takes in 83 races, 10 podiums, 5 victories, and 2 pole positions.
Günther will line up alongside Jean-Eric Vergne, the only two-time champion in Formula E, and will be on a mission to fly the flag high for his new team.
With this latest French-German duo, DS Automobiles and PENSKE AUTOSPORT aim to be among the leaders of Season 11 and rack up several more podiums.
Eugenio Franzetti, DS Performance Director:
“We are delighted to welcome Maximilian Günther into our team! He’s an ambitious and fighting driver who will be able to bring us podiums as well as many points. I’m sure that his partnership with Jean-Eric will be very efficient and that we will be able to challenge the winners of Season 10, in order to do even better in this Season 11 that is about to begin!”
Maximilian Günther, DS PENSKE driver:
“I’m very happy to be joining DS PENSKE. A powerhouse in the championship and a project with strong vision. We share the same ambitions and are all driven to be at the top of Formula E. Representing DS Performance, a manufacturer which has won several championships already is a real privilege. Same for being teammate with a champion like JEV, it’s something I really look forward to. A very special element for me is to drive for Jay’s team again, he brought me into the championship when I was 20 years old. I’m proud to be part of the team and excited of what we will build together in the future.”
Key figures since DS Automobiles entered Formula E:
- 121 races
- 4 championship titles
- 16 victories
- 51 podiums
