Dr. Ric Vandett’s Thought-Provoking Self-Help Guide to Unsolved Inner Problems Now Set for Exhibit at the Americas’ Largest Book Fair
Despite many advances in technology for communication, labor, and more, age-old problems like depression and anxiety still endure. And for veteran and longtime educator Dr. Ric Vandett, the growing gap is only making things worse, not better. That’s why he published “Hurdles,” a self-help guide that brings together tried-and-tested wisdom to deal with these unresolved inner obstacles. And around the end of November, it’ll be on display for readers attending the Americas’ largest book fair.
Ever since he finished his service in Vietnam and became a high school teacher, Dr. Ric Vandett has noticed a very troubling gap. On the one hand, technology in fields like healthcare, business, and communication has made leaps and bounds.
Yet, on the other, none of these have actually addressed age-old problems affecting younger generations. Problems such as self-doubt, depression, disconnection, and anxiety continue to create obstacles in many people’s inner lives.
If anything else, this growing distance seems to only pile on to the problem and prompted him to write his own self-help book. Its title is “Hurdles: Surviving Difficult Times,” for he sees the worsening problem leading to bigger challenges in 21st-century society.
He has even arranged to have the book exhibited at this year’s Guadalajara International Book Fair. Also known as Feria Internacional del Libro de Guadalajara (FIL), it is the largest book fair in the Western Hemisphere. The Guadalajara International Book 2024 will be held from November 30 to December 8, 2024, at the prestigious Expo Guadalajara, Av. Mariano Otero 1499, Colonia Verde Valle, Guadalajara, Jalisco, México.
“Hurdles” combines everything from both his experience as a military veteran and high school educator as well as troubling observations he has made on American life since he retired in 2017. The culture wars, polarization, and rising inequality (all often influenced by technology) are generating an atmosphere of hopelessness that’s making life challenges even harder. Hence, he hopes to revitalize readers with tried-and-true wisdom and common sense amidst the depressing din of internet noise.
Those curious about “Hurdles: Surviving Difficult Times” can check it out at the self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnet’s exhibit at the 2024 Guadalajara International Book Fair at stands #GG40 and #GG42. The display will be from November 30 to December 4.
The book is available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble. For updates on Dr. Vandett’s next publication, visit his website at: https://www.ricvandett.com/.
