easyJet scoops two awards at inaugural Aviation Industry Awards
- easyJet, Europe’s leading airline, clinched two awards at the inaugural Aviation Industry awards 2024
- The airline was named ‘Aviation Company of the Year’ for its efforts in sustainability
- It also brought home the ‘Aviation Innovation (large company)’ Award for Project Acorn – the first airside hydrogen refuelling trial ever to take place at a major UK airport.
easyJet took home two trophies at The Aviation Industry Awards, which took place at Birmingham’s International Convention Centre (ICC) earlier this week.
The airline was the recipient of the ‘Aviation Company of the Year’ award, earned for its outstanding contribution to the industry over the last year, particularly in the area of sustainability.
It also received a separate award for innovation for its groundbreaking hydrogen refuelling trial. Project Acorn was commended for being the first trial of its kind to be conducted at a major UK airport, as well as its contribution to the development of the UK’s first industry regulation for hydrogen’s use in an airport environment.
The inaugural event, which welcomed hundreds of entrants, was set up to recognise the most innovative individuals and companies driving excellence in UK’s aviation sector.
Entries for the awards were received from hundreds of organisations, and were assessed by an independent panel of judges comprising different and diverse professions from across the aviation ecosystem.

Since 2000, the airline has successfully reduced its carbon emissions per passenger, per kilometre by one-third.
Innovation is in easyJet’s DNA – since launching nearly 30 years ago, easyJet changed the way people fly to the present day where the airline leads the industry in digital and operational innovations to make travel more easy and affordable for its passengers.
