Westgarth’s background includes leadership roles across various sectors, where he successfully drove significant advancements in 4G/5G technology, autonomous robotics, and AI-powered systems. He has had experience building companies from zero to $50M run rate and has successfully raised over $600M in funding from top tier VCs over his career to date. At Xeal, he will focus on leveraging the company’s patented self-reliant computing technology to forge new commercial partnerships and broaden its reach across the EV charging sector and beyond. Alastair Westgarth brings a distinguished background with leadership roles at several industry giants, including Google, where he led the development and global deployment of the Loon project, delivering internet access to remote areas via high-altitude balloons. Most recently, he served at the helm of Starship technologies, a leading smart IoT/robotics and AI company leading the autonomous delivery space. At Navini, Westgarth played a key role in the commercialization of 3G/4G technologies, helping to cement the company’s position as a leader in mobile communications. Additionally, his tenure at Nortel Networks saw him drive advancements in wireless communications technology, further solidifying his reputation as an innovator in the tech and telecom sectors.

Along with Westgarth’s addition, Xeal is excited to bring on Natalie Cariola as an independent board member. She is an experienced C-level executive, board advisor, proptech consultant, revenue leader, real estate investor and GTM strategist. With over 20 years of experience building high-performing teams, scaling innovative technologies and driving market leadership, Cariola played a pivotal role at Zumper, where she aggressively scaled revenue through Series B, C and D funding rounds. She also brings valuable fintech and payments experience from her previous roles.

This appointment marks a significant moment in Cariola’s career as she also steps into the role of Chief Revenue Officer at SmartRent (NYSE: SMRT), a publicly traded leader in multifamily smart home solutions. SmartRent generates over $200+ million in annual revenue, with solutions installed in more than 771,000 rental homes and nearly three million connected devices deployed across North America.
