  • Harbor’s care team works with families on developing sleep schedules and routines for remote, all-night monitoring, with a robust and personalized onboarding experience

  • Parents can rest easy for as low as $20 a night after a free two week trial, compared to $400-$700 a night that a traditional night nanny service costs

  • Harbor Remote Night Nannies monitor children remotely until wake-up time, alerting parents through the monitor only when necessary for feeding or soothing via failsafe alerts in the event there is a loss of connection or a parent/caregiver sleeps through an alert

Harbor, a company pioneering infant care technology, today announced the nationwide launch of its Remote Night Nanny (RNN), a first-of-its-kind offering designed to relieve sleep-deprived families. The virtual service provides parents with secure overnight support from trained pediatric nurses and infant care specialists — all at a fraction of the cost compared to traditional night nanny services with unparalleled security and reliability. Each RNN has been carefully vetted by Harbor and has robust training and infant care experience having been employed by other families, night nanny agencies, or hospitals. Harbor’s Remote Night Nanny transforms a life-changing service, in-home night nannies, and makes it available for the masses. Hiring an in-home night nanny is out of reach for almost every American family based on cost and availability. It also removes the challenge of vetting individual providers to sleep in parents’ homes.

“Harbor is on a mission to help parents and caregivers achieve peaceful nights and equip them with the confidence to handle any challenge parenthood throws their way,” said Kelly Brown, Director of Nursing at Harbor. “We are committed to fostering an environment where mothers and parents can prioritize their well-being. That starts with getting an adequate amount of sleep each night and having peace of mind knowing their child is in safe, expert hands.”

A solution to sleepless nights

For many parents, sleep deprivation is a serious challenge, with nearly 50% reporting feelings of being unsupported in managing their infant’s sleep.

Harbor was developed by a team of parents frustrated with the limitations and unreliability of traditional baby monitors. It’s the first and only baby monitoring system featuring a dedicated, local monitor that operates independently of the internet and securely connects to the cloud only when you choose.

Harbor’s new RNN service democratizes access to expert overnight care, offering a cost-effective, secure, and practical alternative starting as low as $20 a night with all Harbor customers in 2024 eligible to receive a free 2 week trial. It seamlessly integrates with the company’s advanced baby monitoring system, and once care is scheduled, Harbor’s team of trained pediatric experts takes over nighttime monitoring.

How It Works

Prior to the first scheduled night, parents connect with their designated RNN to review their baby’s routine and set goals. Once the night begins, parents grant the RNN access to their Harbor for all-night monitoring of their child. The RNN will remotely turn down the audio and take over the monitor, keeping eyes on the baby’s sleep in real time while parents rest.

Parents are only alerted when needed, such as when it’s time to feed or soothe the baby, allowing parents to get uninterrupted sleep. In the event the parent does not wake up, Harbor sends escalating alerts and helps parents enable Emergency Bypass mode through their phones to receive calls as further redundancies. If for any reason the Monitor loses connection, Harbor’s technology will automatically turn the Monitor back on to full volume as a failsafe option. Finally, RNNs only have access to a camera when it is granted — as soon as a selected night ends, access is removed.

Before parents agree to the RNN experience, Harbor will provide an agreement for review and signature, addressing any questions or concerns.

“From ensuring proper sleep patterns to timely interventions when the baby wakes, our Remote Night Nanny is there every step of the night, offering tailored care and expert advice,” said Lavelle. “Parents can rest easy knowing that their baby is in expert hands.”

In addition to the RNN service, Harbor offers real-time baby monitoring, health services for infants and postpartum care, and expert caregivers, all wrapped into its comprehensive membership offerings, including their monthly subscription service for Sleep and Wellness Coaching. Harbor’s Sleep and Wellness Coaching offers parents a $9 monthly subscription service, connecting them with experienced pediatric nurses and infant care experts to text in questions about sleep, feeding, and early childhood and postpartum challenges for personalized, non-medical advice.

This new service comes on the heels of Harbor’s $7 million funding and nationwide launch to ship its advanced baby monitoring system to offer parents greater control, privacy, and security without relying on the internet.
