Chelsea learn Carabao Cup opponents
It has been confirmed that Chelsea will face Newcastle United away in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.
We had previously been drawn against either AFC Wimbledon or Newcastle United in the fourth round of the competition, but now know we will travel north to take on Newcastle after they won their postponed tie 1-0 this evening.
The fixture will be our third match at St James’ Park in this competition – and we have won on both previous occasions. We also defeated the Magpies at home on penalties in last season’s quarter-finals.
We booked our place in the fourth round with an emphatic 5-0 home win over League Two side Barrow last week while the Magpies overcame Nottingham Forest on penalties in this season’s competition before eliminating Wimbledon.
The game is due to be played on Wednesday, October 30 at 7.45pm and will be shown live on Sky Sports +. Full fixture and ticket information will follow in due course.
