Career-wise, Dr. Marshall Flam had a long and successful career that started with his graduation from MIT to teaching and practicing oncology for 40 years. When he was a boy, Dr. Flam had a fondness for limericks. It was a fondness that didn’t quite go away, even when he graduated from MIT and then proceeded to have a successful 40-year medical career in hematology and oncology.

But in 2022, he rediscovered this boyhood delight when he started playing the hit internet word puzzle game Wordle. The daily Wordle word inspired him to write daily limericks that incorporated the daily Wordle word… Before he knew it, he had an entire collection that was sizeable enough to be released as a book.

Simply titled “Wordle Limericks,” the book contains 603 entries based on the first 400 solutions in Wordle. These limericks cover a wide range of topics, including history, medicine, politics, and culture and much more. The book has even been featured at a number of large book fairs as well as book signing sessions and lectures with Marshall himself.

Reviews have already come in, noting the uniqueness of the book’s entire premise. Kirkus Reviews says that some of its best entries “preserve the limerick tradition of the unexpected turn” alongside its novel concept. Another review from Foreword Clarion says: “The experimental poetry collection… incorporates impish humor and fun facts into its game-adjacent entries.”

The book is also just the first of an entire series planned. Dr. Flam is still in the midst of writing even more limericks that he plans to compile and release in a sequel collection. Dr. Marshall Flam is a graduate of MIT who practiced and taught Oncology and Hematology for 40 years. “Wordle Limericks” is his first non-medical publication. He is the father of 5 accomplished daughters. His hobbies include tennis, skiing, singing, gourmet cooking, mixology and travelling. He resides in Fresno California and Sun Valley Idaho with his retired pediatrician Chilean wife.
