Winner: LG Electronics
While LG Electronics has established a name for itself in the automotive and manufacturing industry, the organization recognizes business challenges in the self-driving vehicle (SDV) environment. LG Electronics saw the collaboration with Red Hat as a strategic move to overcome technological limitations and challenges that a company alone is unable to navigate. This enabled the organization’s SDV task force to focus on innovating the software platforms of vehicles to achieve more intelligent and connected mobility, built on the foundation of Red Hat’s linux enterprise and Red Hat In-Vehicle Operating System.
Thes goal of LG Electronics’ SDV task force is to create better vehicles by continuously improving the software even after launch. The increased scalability of applications and deployment frequency of features have allowed SDV to accelerate technological innovation while operating in a stable environment. This project paves the way for cloud native technologies to be extended in more diverse ways to vehicles, delivering user experiences that can make the future of driving a reality sooner.
