Community Mental Health Day in the San Fermín Neighborhood

The Rafa Nadal Foundation Center in Madrid had the honor of participating in the Community Mental Health Day in the San Fermín neighborhood, a significant event focused on raising awareness and promoting mental well-being in the local community. This gathering brought together professionals from the field of mental health, as well as families and neighbors, with the aim of strengthening the community support network and fostering a healthier and more supportive environment.

The day began in the morning with a dynamic session aimed at professionals and families. The first activity was a presentation titled “The Community as a Preventive Factor in Mental Health,” in which experts shared their knowledge and experiences regarding the importance of community in preventing mental health issues.

This talk created an enriching space for exchanging ideas and practices, giving voice to the concerns and hopes of the participants. After the presentation, a Work Coffee session took place, where attendees had the opportunity to discuss the conclusions of the talk in a more informal setting, fostering connection and networking among everyone present.

In the afternoon, the stars of the day were the children and adolescents (NNA), who enthusiastically participated in a variety of workshops designed to foster their creativity, well-being, and skills. Activities included storytelling, where the little ones could immerse themselves in fascinating stories; Tai Chi, which taught them relaxation and concentration techniques; boxing, which promoted discipline and teamwork; ballet initiation, which awakened their artistic expression; and a gardening workshop, where they learned about the importance of nature and healthy eating.

Each workshop not only provided a fun experience but also contributed to the development of socio-emotional skills among the participants. The day culminated in a vibrant musical closing by a local neighborhood group, filling the atmosphere with energy and joy, celebrating the community’s diversity and unity.
