New Lancia Gamma to be Produced at the Stellantis Melfi Plant in Italy

During the Rally 4 presentation event at Balocco, Lancia not only announced the launch of the Ypsilon Rally4 HF but also the revival of the iconic Lancia Corse division.

During the event, it was confirmed that the next vehicle in Lancia’s revival, the Lancia Gamma, designed and developed in Italy, will be produced at the Stellantis plant in Melfi, Italy, marking Lancia’s return to this facility where the second generation of the Ypsilon was previously produced between 1995 and 2003. This site, recognized as one of the Company’s centers of excellence, was chosen for its high production quality and its strategic role in the transition towards electric mobility.

The Melfi plant, located in Basilicata, is a symbol of Italian craftsmanship and technological innovation. For years, Melfi has been a cornerstone of national and international automotive production, blending Italian artistry with the most advanced manufacturing technologies. The Lancia Gamma will be built in 2026 on the multi-energy STLA Medium reaffirming Lancia’s commitment to driving the transformation towards sustainable, premium mobility.

The decision to produce the new Gamma in Melfi reflects Stellantis’ commitment to promoting Italian-made products. Inaugurated in 1994, the Melfi plant has long been a key player in global automotive production and is currently responsible for producing the Jeep Compass and Jeep Renegade. This announcement is part of Lancia’s broader revival strategy, which includes a return to Europe with a network of more than 70 dealerships in six countries, including France, Belgium, and Spain.
