“Thirty Years Hence” by Denise Beck-Clark Will Be Displayed at the 2024 Guadalajara International Book Fair

The self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnet will exhibit “Thirty Years Hence” by Denise Beck-Clark at the 2024 Guadalajara International Book Fair. The grand book event will occur from November 30 to December 8, 2024, at the prestigious Expo Guadalajara, Av. Mariano Otero 1499, Colonia Verde Valle, Guadalajara, Jalisco, México. The Guadalajara International Book Fair, also known as Feria Internacíonal del Libro de Guadalajara (FIL), is the most important publishing event in Ibero-America and a grand cultural festival. ReadersMagnet will participate for five days, from November 30 to December 4, 2024.

“Thirty Years Hence” is a story of two women in NYC in 1973: Michelle Cooper, age twenty-three, is despairing and without direction, barely surviving the turbulent household of her parents and her adolescent foray into the Sixties’ hippiedom. Forty-something Ida Birnbaum is a Queens, NY wife and mother, and survivor of Auschwitz concentration camp.

Like many folks during the so-called “Me Decade,” Michelle and Ida indulge in hedonistic and self-destructive activities and must then deal with the consequences. They each turn for support to their evolving friendship and characters, such as Theo, an idealistic young immigrant working for a telephone prayer service run by Charles, another Holocaust survivor and self-fashioned spiritual guru.

The characters in Denise’s novel seek psychological healing via another of Charles’ creations. The Rogen Treatment Program is a unique process wherein participants “experience” the Holocaust and, through a kind of aversion therapy, conquer their respective individual demons.

“Thirty Years Hence” is an evocative and deeply moving narrative that explores the themes of survival, acceptance, and the quest for belonging. Through its rich storytelling, it delves into the struggles and triumphs of characters as they navigate a world filled with challenges, ultimately highlighting the resilience of the human spirit and the profound connections that shape human lives.
