At the upcoming 2024 Guadalajara International Book Fair, also known as Feria Internacíonal del Libro de Guadalajara (FIL), it will not just be South American publishers who will be showcasing the continent’s authors. There will also be delegates from all across the Western Hemisphere, bringing to visitors a wide range of literature on different topics.

There they will find the latest best-selling self-help books right alongside the religious testimonies of numerous pastors and other faith leaders.

However, Minister Thomas DiFilippi Sr. is one Christian author who decided to make something that does plenty of both.

The full title of his book is “Born Again: Rose of Jericho.” While it definitely uses a lot of familiar evangelical language, it also tries to use it in a way that echoes the sort of book meant to encourage people currently experiencing difficult times.

This line of thought comes from the book also being the personal testimony of Dr. DiFilippi’s own similar struggles in his life. Born to an Italian-American family in Brooklyn, he had moved to the city of Los Angeles in the hopes of becoming an aircraft engineer and making the 1984 U.S. Men’s Olympic weightlifting team.

Unfortunately, those dreams were never realized thanks to a harmful lifestyle filled with addiction and poor choices. Like many others, he found that a renewed Christian faith allowed him to overcome his addictions. Through his book, he wishes to share the inspiring message he found in the Bible that encouraged him to start anew.
