  • The project includes planting about 500 native trees and shrubs to conserve local biodiversity
  • The Alstom Foundation will finance this project, organise activities including awareness workshops and corporate volunteering events

The Alstom Foundation and Reforesta Association will develop a project aimed at promoting the natural restoration and the conservation of biodiversity in the Montseny Natural Park and Biosphere Reserve (Barcelona) and in the municipality of Pezuela de Las Torres (Madrid).

In Montseny, the project includes creating a seed orchard with 102 specimens of native chestnut trees, which are essential for maintaining biodiversity in the Natural Park. In Pezuela de las Torres, Madrid, 440 trees and shrubs of 14 species will be planted to boost ecological connectivity and support pollinators.

To carry out the project, the Alstom Foundation will support the project by financing and organising activities such as awareness workshops, volunteer events, fencing, land preparation, irrigation, and planting.

Additionally, for the execution of both projects, the Reforesta Association will hire employees in particularly vulnerable situations, and in the case of Catalonia, it will partner with Fundació Acció Baix Montseny, which promotes the employment of people with disabilities.

Founded in 2007, the Alstom Foundation supports and finances projects proposed by Alstom employees and developed in collaboration with local NGOs and non-profit organisations. The initiatives aim to improve the living conditions of communities near the group’s sites globally. The foundations projects revolve around four axes: access to mobility, environmental protection, access to energy and water, and socioeconomic development. In this latest edition, the Foundation Council has received 268 proposals. From these, in the 2024/2025 period, the Foundation will finance 33 projects. More information can be found on the Alstom Foundation’s website.
