Nectir, a startup giving every student a personalized AI learning partner, today announced a $6.3 million seed round led by Long Journey Ventures along with Entrada Ventures, Precursor Ventures, and Behind Genius Ventures. The platform is the easiest way for schools to deploy AI across their organization while maintaining safety and privacy. The fresh capital will fuel Nectir’s ambitious product roadmap and team expansion, with the company actively hiring sales, operations, and engineering professionals to support its rapidly accelerating growth.

Schools’ Problems: Fewer Teachers, Lower Funding, and Underwhelming EdTech

The US education system is facing a severe crisis with an estimated 300,000 teacher deficit and $150 billion annual shortfall in funding. These shortcomings have caused student test scores to plummet to their lowest levels in decades. While efforts have been made to solve many of these issues with technology, most have failed to significantly improve academic outcomes or support teachers. While past EdTech solutions have focused on digitizing content or simplifying administrative tasks, they often lack the personalized support that students need to thrive.

“I’ve seen dozens of edtech solutions that don’t move the needle on student performance and are both a burden on students and teachers to use,” said Mike Wilday, Manager of Learning Technology Solutions at Los Angeles Pacific University. “Nectir has blown me away by naturally integrating into our classroom setting while driving an incredible increase in student engagement and performance.”

Nectir’s Solution: Scalable AI Infrastructure + Personalized Learning Partners

Nectir is the one-stop solution for schools looking to deploy AI safely. The company’s platform integrates seamlessly with all major learning management systems (LMS), allowing schools to quickly create custom AI assistants for students, teachers, administrators, and more. Nectir’s most popular use case is an AI course assistant trained on class materials, giving every student access to personalized learning support and feedback at any time. The platform is also completely FERPA-compliant, maintaining the highest data safety and student privacy standards.

“Our goal is to make 24/7 personalized support the norm for every student throughout their educational journey,” said Kavitta Ghai, CEO of Nectir. “With AI technology, we can now provide each student with their own learning partner that understands all of their textbooks, assignments, and deadlines, guiding them through each class in a way that is tailored to their individual needs.”

“The American education system is at its breaking point – our teachers are overwhelmed, our students are falling behind, and traditional solutions aren’t making a dent in these challenges,” explained Cyan Banister, Partner at Long Journey Ventures. “What excites me about Nectir is that they’ve cracked the code on making AI work in real classrooms. We’re seeing up to 20% GPA increases across major universities because they’ve built something teachers actually want to use. Kavitta and Jordan aren’t just talking about the future of education – they’re building it, and that’s exactly why we had to invest.”

Nectir was founded by Kavitta Ghai and Jordan Long during their undergraduate study at UC Santa Barbara to address the shortcomings of traditional education systems. Early results have been promising. After just one term of implementing Nectir AI course assistants, Los Angeles Pacific University reported a 20% increase in GPAs, a 13% rise in average final scores and a 36% boost in student motivation.

“We built Nectir AI to let teachers focus on what they do best - inspiring students, building meaningful connections, and fostering critical thinking skills,” explained Jordan Long, co-founder and CTO of Nectir. “By having AI handle repetitive tasks like answering common questions and providing basic explanations, we’re giving teachers back their time to do the deeply human work that really matters.”
