Lufthansa strengthens its hubs in Munich and Frankfurt
Effective 1 January 2025, Jens Ritter, CEO Lufthansa Airlines, will take over responsibility for Lufthansa’s operations at its Munich hub in addition to his current role. Klaus Froese, currently Chief Operations Officer & Accountable Manager of the core brand, will additionally assume responsibility for the Frankfurt hub.
In view of the major operational challenges at the hubs in Frankfurt and Munich, which have led to a decline in quality, particularly during the peak periods of recent summers, Lufthansa Airlines is setting up new responsibilities.
Among other things, the new structure, with explicitly responsible hub managers, is intended to improve the processes of the flight operations at the respective location. This includes station and cabin management as well as the coordination and further development of ground infrastructure and processes. The goal is to ensure stable, reliable and punctual flight operations in cooperation between the Lufthansa teams and their respective local partners – even during peak periods in the summer. Smooth and punctual flight operations are essential for increasing customer satisfaction. The establishment of the new hub responsibility is intended to contribute to this, and, in particular, to improve the travel experience of Lufthansa passengers at the Group’s two most important airports.
The new structure will also generate further synergies through cross-divisional collaboration within Lufthansa Airlines.
