AECOM appoints Matt Kavanagh as its new Global Energy Strategy & Growth Lead
AECOM, the trusted global infrastructure leader, announced that it has appointed Matt Kavanagh as its Global Energy Strategy & Growth Lead. With more than 20 years of industry experience, Mr. Kavanagh has identified, developed, and managed more than $3 billion of energy and economic development projects in 25 countries. In his new role at AECOM, Mr. Kavanagh will enhance the Company’s global focus on energy infrastructure and the energy transition, advancing global capabilities and innovative strategies to deliver utility scale generation, transmission lines and grid modernization projects.

A seasoned energy infrastructure expert, Mr. Kavanagh has held senior positions across the power sector. Most recently, he served as Vice President of International Business Development and Strategy for a firm specializing in consulting services for complex power delivery and generation projects across the globe. Prior to that, he was Vice President at a new independent power producer in Africa and the Middle East, where he expanded the business’s portfolio to include 900 MW of thermal and renewable investment projects. Mr. Kavanagh also served as the Deputy Resident Country Director for the U.S. Government’s Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) in Tanzania, overseeing an ambitious 5-year infrastructure program, including 3,000 kilometers of transmission and distribution lines; 27 substations; and a 37-kilometer subsea transmission cable to Zanzibar.
