Extending the boundaries of 5G monitoring: Rohde & Schwarz unveils groundbreaking R&S®CS-MC53 microwave converter
Rohde & Schwarz launches the R&S®CS-MC53 microwave converter, a groundbreaking new frequency extension that enables unparalleled performance and sensitivity in extremely high frequency range measurement applications such as 5G FR2 monitoring.
Rohde & Schwarz is proud to announce the market launch of the R&S®CS-MC53 microwave converter, designed to support the growing demand for 5G and millimeter wave (mmWave) frequency range measurement capabilities.
“We are excited to introduce the R&S®CS-MC53 microwave converter, which offers our customers a high-performance solution for measuring 5G signals and microwave and satellite links in the mmWave frequency range,” said Anne Stephan, Vice President Monitoring & Analytics, Rohde & Schwarz. “Its ultracompact design and weatherproof housing benefits to the customers by making it easy to install next to the antenna, minimizing cable losses and ensuring highest sensitivity.”
R&S®CS-MC53 extends the frequency range of the R&S®EM200 digital compact receiver, the R&S®UMS400 universal monitoring system, and the R&S®ESMW ultra wideband monitoring receiver from 17 GHz to 53 GHz. It provides up to 500 MHz real-time bandwidth and can easily be installed in remote-controlled fixed and transportable monitoring stations, as well as on top of rotatable masts in mobile monitoring stations.
“The ability to measure and monitor satellite signals and point-to-point radio links, opens up new possibilities for our customers,” Mrs. Stephan continues. “This means that they can now measure and monitor the upper frequency range of the 5G frequency range 2, which was previously not possible. This capability provides customers with a significant benefit, as it enables them to better understand and optimize their 5G network performance, leading to improved quality of service and reduced costs.”
R&S®CS-MC53 provides plug-and-play capability with supported Rohde & Schwarz monitoring receivers via a serial RS-485 link and is fully controlled by the receiver. It is powered via the AUX connection to the receiver for operation with the R&S UMS400 and R&S®ESMW, or via an external DC power supply for operation with the R&S®EM200.
“We are thrilled to offer a solution that not only meets but exceeds the current and future requirements of our customers,” Mrs. Stephan concludes.
