Mitsui Chemicals Held Construction Completion Ceremony for Digital Science Lab.™, a Facility for Accelerating DX in R&D
Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. (Tokyo: 4183; President & CEO: HASHIMOTO Osamu) announced that it held a ceremony on December 16, 2024, to mark the completion of construction work on the Digital Science Lab.™ (DSL), a new R&D facility located within VISION HUB™ SODEGAURA (previously known as the Sodegaura Center) in Sodegaura, Chiba.
The DSL is intended to help Mitsui Chemicals further accelerate the digital transformation (DX) of its R&D through digital science that integrates computational science with data science and high-performance computing toward the early achievement of our company’s Long-Term Business Plan, VISION 2030. In order to make this happen, the facility has been equipped with a high-performance multi-architecture computing environment with an overall performance (theoretical peak double precision performance) in the petaFLOPS class.
Mitsui Chemicals will bring together digital science specialists and experts from R&D divisions, Production and Technology divisions at the DSL to create synergies by stimulating interactions among researchers. And the company is committed to innovation through DX, such as the creation of new businesses and products and the realization of a circular economy.
Mitsui Chemicals is also installing high-speed communication equipment linking up Creation Palette sites around Japan, facilitating seamless co-creation with both in-house and external partners to spur open innovation.
