CTA Gives Back to Nevada – $125K Supports Sustainability Efforts

The Consumer Technology Association (CTA)® announces the recipients of its CES® 2025 Green Grants program, funding $125,000 to three Nevada organizations focused on sustainability. The 2025 program recognizes a statewide tree planting program, a food rescue program, and a solar charging project.

For over a decade, CTA has contributed more than $900,000 in green grants to Las Vegas, demonstrating its commitment to giving back to the community that hosts the show. CTA awards the grants annually to organizations that demonstrate a clear vision, measurable goals, and a positive impact on the environment and the community. The grant recipients are selected by a panel of experts from CTA.

“CTA and its Green Grants program is proud to support the Las Vegas and southern Nevada community which welcome CES and attendees from around the world every year,” said Gary Shapiro, CEO and Vice Chair, CTA. “ImpactNV, Three Square and Touro University Nevada share our dedication to sustainability and making a difference in the lives of current and future generations.”

Recipients receiving funding through CTA’s CES 2025 Green Grant program include:

ImpactNV - $45,000: ImpactNV, a nonprofit organization, will use the funds for its Urban Forestry Initiative. The initiative aims to plant 100,000 trees in 10 years across Nevada communities, including those facing extreme heat, compromised air quality, and other indicators of environmental injustice. The project is expected to eliminate around 13,000 pounds of carbon monoxide annually from the atmosphere.

“ImpactNV is excited to receive a generous grant of $45,000 from the Consumer Technology Association as part of their dedication to enhancing the sustainability of Southern Nevada,” said Lauren Boitel, Executive Director, ImpactNV. “This funding will be instrumental in continuing our 10-year, 100,000 Tree Program, which focuses on planting drought-tolerant and adaptive species trees in the communities with the greatest need for increased green spaces, improved air quality, and better overall community health. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to CTA for their continuing support over the past decade, empowering us to create a more sustainable and vibrant Nevada for all of our residents and visitors.”

Three Square - $60,000: Three Square, the only food bank serving Southern Nevada, will focus on redirecting surplus food from retailers and other partners to families experiencing food insecurity. In the past year, the program saved 23.6 million pounds of food from landfills, reducing emissions from food waste and ensuring it reaches those in need.

“We are incredibly grateful for the Consumer Technology Association’s Green Grants Program and their commitment to sustainability and hunger relief,” said Beth Martino, president and CEO of Three Square Food Bank. “This generous support helps sustain our food rescue program, which ensures nutritious food reaches people in need instead of being wasted. Together, we are creating a more sustainable future and making a meaningful impact for the one in seven neighbors in our community facing hunger.”

Touro University Nevada - $20,000: Touro University, a private, non-profit university, serving over 1500 students with programs in the fields of healthcare and education, plans to install a solar-powered surveillance trailer in a parking lot to enhance campus security and create a safer environment for students and the community.

“Having the most cutting-edge technology for our students is a key part of their educational experience, and we’re honored to receive this grant from CTA, a leader in technological innovation,” said Dr. Andrew Priest, Campus President & Provost. “This grant not only supports our commitment to academic excellence but also ensures that our students have access to sustainable and energy-efficient technologies.”
